The Netflix Of Porn Is Here!

Netflix is great, especially when you’ve been struggling to find something to watch and it suggests the perfect video for you to watch. Porn sites work in a similar way, taking videos similar to those you have already fapped over and telling you what else you might like, based on what others like you watch.

A young businessman is typing on a computer with one hand. His other hand is under the table and he is looking really excited.

It seemed only a matter of time before someone decided to combine these two ideas, and of course it would have to be Pornhub to take it that step further. After all, they are the ones responsible for the Wank Band and other strange innovations through porn.

Pornhub are hoping that they will be able to claim the title of “the Netflix of porn” with their new porn subscription service, but what exactly does “the Netflix of porn” mean in the first place, and what can you horny Norwegians expect from this strange new service hitting your tablet and mobile phone?

A new porn subscription service

Netflix has made watching film and TV a hell of a lot easier, and you can get a lot of content on there from just 79 Norwegian krone a month. It’s a cheap alternative to paying for the best TV package that money can buy when you don’t even watch all of the channels you have, and is a hell of a lot easier than pirating shows.

One of the things that makes subscription services like Netflix so popular is the huge range of exclusive content. Shows like Orange Is The New Black, Marvel’s Daredevil and House of Cards can be found only on Netflix, so if you want to watch them you have to go there.

Traditionally, if you wanted to watch porn you might have to pay a fee to access a certain website, where you could only watch content from that person, and often it was quite a hefty price to pay without a lot of choice. Once you’ve watched one Brazzers video, you’ve pretty much watched them all. With the free porn sites you get lots of pop-ups interrupting your fapping and it might not even be that good.

Pornhub are changing the way paying for porn works. The new Pornhub Premium service will work in a similar way to Netflix, where you pay a set fee each month and get access to a huge amount of content, including a few exclusives, all available for you to stream in HD and without adverts.

What makes it different to Pornhub now?

You might be wondering just what exactly makes this new “premium” service different to how Pornhub works right now. After all, you can already get a huge range of content on Pornhub without paying for it, so why would you want to pay the 82 Norwegian Krone ($9.99) for content you might already be able to watch if you look long and hard enough?

Well, many of the videos you find on Pornhub have been shortened and condensed, which might seem like a good idea, but it means that action can suddenly jump ahead. They might just be kissing, but then the scene changes and the guy with the big dick is already plunging into the woman’s pussy. It kind of ruins the moment.

Not only that, but they tend to be of shit quality. Sorry, but it is hard to lose yourself in the moment and fap to your favourite kind of porn when the actors are ever so slightly blurry on the screen.

Well, with premium, Pornhub says that “it has everything you know and love but with faster streaming, 1080p quality, awesome full-length content and best of all NO ADS”. The President of Pornhub, Corey Price, has spoken out about this move to create “the new standard” of porn, saying that “we’re looking to take the crown as the ‘Netflix of porn’ and with the colossal amount of content we’ll be providing – and adding tonnes more daily – we’re confident our fan base will totally embrace this product and reinforce our position as the top provider of on-demand adult video.

He tells us how widely available this new service will be, saying that “PornHub Premium will be available on mobile, tablet, and desktop to offer ‘maximum comfort in consumption’.” Sold already? You might be thinking that this is exactly what you need in your life, and with a free seven day trial to test it out, you might be more than happy to do it, but there are some things you might want to think about before you go signing up.

Sold already? Read on

For a start, you should think about how it will show up on your bill. According to the website, it seems that the words “PORNHUB PREMIUM” won’t be showing up on your account, and that instead there is a range of other words that will be appearing on your account, subject to where you live. Among them are things like “MG Billing Ireland Limited”, “Probiller.com”, and “Vendo”, so discretion might still be possible… if your partner doesn’t use Google, that is.

However, looking into the terms and conditions and details of the policy, it seems that you might not be entirely safe from being exposed. Under the “use of your email address” section, the terms and conditions explain how your email address will be used. Yes, it “will be used to contact you when we have information to provide you”, but it seems that they aren’t going to keep your email address to themselves.

They actually admit that they will “periodically share your email address with other third parties, with whom [Pornhub] have a direct or indirect relationship with, for the purposes of sending you special advertisements or promotions”. While they say that they and their advertising partners “comply fully with the federal CAN-SPAM Act”, you might still receive emails with adverts that pretty much expose where that 82 Norwegian krone a month is going…

They do, of course, say that “you will never receive emails from our advertising partner without your consent” and that you should “report any unauthorized emails that you receive without your prior authorization”, but it’s a good sign to check the terms and conditions for yourself when you sign up. After all, you don’t want an email appearing saying “because you liked this video on Pornhub Premium, try this!” when your wife is looking over your shoulder, do you?

A different kind of service

They say that one of the biggest lies we pretty much all do is ticking that little box saying “I have read and understood the terms and conditions of service” and the bottom of a page when signing up to something, but with this kind of service it might be best to check what you need to do to stop unsolicited emails exposing your porn viewing history. That said, if Pornhub provides users with the type of exclusives it is promising, it will definitely earn the title of ‘Netflix of porn’.

There are probably some things that Pornhub Premium will do differently to Netflix. For example, when Netflix says “are you still watching Orange Is The New Black?” it feels like we’re being judged. We suspect that Pornhub won’t do that, as they understand that our hands are a little too busy to click “yes”. We hope that they won’t have a pop-up mid-marathon of your favourite porn star asking “are you still jerking off to Mia Khalifa?”

However, there will probably be a lot of similarities. Searching by porn star will probably yield a huge amount of videos that they are in, and you will even be able to see how highly rated they are by others. You might even get recommendations just like Netflix does, so Pornhub premium might soon be saying “because you watched Hot Milfs Facials Compilation…” and suggesting more videos like it!

So, do you think you’d sign up for a free trial of Pornhub Premium or are you already using it?
