How To Stop Work Killing Your Sex Life

The things that are happening in your life can seriously change your sex life. You might find yourself having more or less sex as a result of the events going on.
Stressed man

One of the biggest challenges facing couples is work. Stress at work, or taking on a bigger workload, can make sex the last thing on your mind when you get home at the end of the day.

So, how much of an impact does work have on your sex life, and what can you do to stop it?

Japanese study

A recent interview that was conducted by the Japan Family Planning Association to discover just why birth-rates were dropping has told us just how severe the impact of work is. The interview, which asked 3000 men and women about their sex lives, talked about everything from the last time they had sex to why they aren’t having sex.

Shockingly, nearly half of the participants of the survey (49.3% of them!) reported that they hadn’t had sex at all in the last month. There is such a thing as going through a dry spell, but that seems a pretty high number!

The study also found that 21.3% of men and 17.8% of women gave their excuse for the lack of sex as being work related, and that they were too tired following a long day or week.

I think we can say that we’ve all been there. With office politics to deal with and an increasing workload, we will have all, at some point, simply not had the energy to get it on.

Bringing work home

Bringing your work home with you can be the main reason you aren’t having sex as much as you used to. You may want to get as much done at home so that things aren’t as tense and stressful at work, or you may need to rant to your partner about the latest thing that has happened in the office.

The best way to stop work from ruining your sex life? Make a clear division between work and home. Leave work related things at work and stop bringing it home with you.

When you bring work home with you, or walk in the front door still angry about what your colleague said or did, you are bringing all of that negativity with you. Instead, try to leave it at work. Take a breath before you leave the office and try to forget about it until the next day.

If you can’t keep work at work

Sometimes, keeping work and home separate is a little too much to do, especially if you have a lot of work to get done. So what can you do if keeping them separate is too difficult?

You could always suggest a sensual massage. Whether you are the one giving or receiving the sensual massage, a massage is a great way to relieve all of that tension. You could even take it in turns, massaging your partner before they massage you.

Make sure you set apart some time for you and your partner, whether it is to go out on a date together or just to have a quiet night in with no work involved. You can do this once a week or once a month, depending on your schedules, but make sure you do it! It will help to keep you close while making sure you have that time that work cannot touch.
